There is a large circular recessed lighting fixture on my kitchen ceiling. There appear to be two bulbs inside which are tubes. How do I change the bulbs?

Sounds like you have fluorescent recessed lights. These take a type of CFL bulb, which use pins to power them as opposed to a screw base. You may be able to pull it straight out. If not, there may be clips on the sides of the lamp socket that you will need to release, then pull straight out.
